2025 Funding and Collaboration Opportunities
In alignment with Rice’s “Momentous” strategic plan, Rice Digital Learning and Strategy is proud to announce a new initiative: Accelerating Responsible AI for Education at Rice. This comprehensive program is designed to foster innovation, build a robust faculty community, and strategically advance Rice’s leadership in the age of AI.
Empowers faculty to lead peer-based explorations of AI topics most relevant to their disciplines.
4-8 faculty per school
Funds to support the FLC, facilitator and/or participants
5+ meetings over two semesters
Shareable deliverables
Seed funding for faculty to conduct small-scale experiments.
Small-scale AI experiments to redesign assessments, enhance student engagement, and improve feedback
Stipends and support
Share the innovation (blog, podcast, or symposium)
New undergraduate or graduate courses that significantly integrate AI into the curriculum.
New, or heavily revised, courses
Stipends for individuals or teams
Designed and approved for 2026 (spring, summer, or fall)
Faculty or departments sharing their AI expertise with a global audience.
Open-ended, rolling proposals
Support may include funding, instructional design, and video production services

The Accelerating Responsible AI and Education programs are partly funded from a generous philanthropic investment from Lori and Chuck Whitten to expand innovation and AI literacy to equip faculty with tools, knowledge, and support to harness AI in transformative and ethical ways.
