In alignment with Rice’s “Momentous” strategic plan, Rice Digital Learning and Strategy is proud to announce a new initiative: Accelerating Responsible AI for Education at Rice. This comprehensive program is designed to foster innovation, build a robust faculty community, and strategically advance Rice’s leadership in the age of AI.

Empowers faculty to lead peer-based explorations of AI topics most relevant to their disciplines.

Seed funding for faculty to conduct small-scale experiments.

  • Small-scale AI experiments to redesign assessments, enhance student engagement, and improve feedback

  • Stipends and support

  • Share the innovation (blog, podcast, or symposium)

  • Full details and proposal requirements

New undergraduate or graduate courses that significantly integrate AI into the curriculum.

Faculty or departments sharing their AI expertise with a global audience.

The Lori and Chuck Whitten Faculty Innovation and AI Literacy Program

The Accelerating Responsible AI and Education programs are partly funded from a generous philanthropic investment from Lori and Chuck Whitten to expand innovation and AI literacy to equip faculty with tools, knowledge, and support to harness AI in transformative and ethical ways.
